Bhakimli potatoes are being branded and sent to the market

5 June, Galeshwar (Magdi). Advanced varieties of potatoes produced by Beldhunga Agricultural Farm located in Beni Municipality-3 Bhakimli of Myagdi are going to be marketed under the branding of 'Beldhunga'. The chairman of the farm, Kearsing Pun, said that the potatoes grown by the farm on 100 acres of land are ready to be sold under the Beldhunga brand.

"Beldhunga" is a famous tourist spot on the border of Bhakimli in Myagdi and Dhamja in Baglung. Pun informed that 75 plantations were planted with Barkhe and 25 plantations with advanced varieties of Janakdev and Rosita. He said that they are preparing to take the name, address and quantity of the organization to the market in order to establish the Bhakimli potato brand from the farm to the consumer's kitchen in the farm where 19 people from home and abroad have invested. The potato producer group affiliated to the farm has said that it will help in the marketing of potatoes produced by local farmers other than themselves. The group has fixed the prices of potatoes of Janakdev and Rosita varieties according to their size. The group said that small potatoes will be retailed at Rs 35 per kg, medium potatoes at Rs 40 per kg and large potatoes at Rs 50 per kg.

Agricultural Technical Assistant Shyamsharan Karmi said that potato seeds are recommended by Krishi Gyan Kendra because Rosita potatoes grow from 10 to 14 metric tons per hectare at an altitude of 1,600 to 3,500 meters above sea level. He said that farmers are attracted to advanced varieties of potatoes because they do not suffer from diseases and insects and produce better. He informed that the Center has encouraged the farmers to start potato farming under the technology-based agricultural production promotion project at the community level as Musung, Bhukbhuke, Bhakimli areas of the district are suitable for potato production.
